A visiting bowler to Hutton Poplars Bowling Club was heard to remark, “I love bowling here. It’s so pretty and secluded”. It’s true.
Our outdoor bowling green is shyly tucked away and surrounded by attractive trees. It must be one of Hutton's best kept secrets!
Hutton Poplars Bowling Club is a mixed gender club formed in 1991 so we are fast approaching our 25th anniversary. Although our membership is comparatively small, our modest numbers encourage a friendly, helpful and supportive atmosphere - essential ingredients for the successful running of a club whilst serving the best interests of our members, both collectively and individually.
During the outdoor bowling season, end of April to end of September, we offer our members the chance to bowl at a level that suits them. Our fixtures include friendly matches, league matches, special events, club competitions and a club-night league.
During the close season, end of September to beginning of May, club members keep in touch with regular social gatherings in the club lounge. We also have a small winter program of indoor fixtures.

The club has two qualified coaches who run coaching sessions throughout most of the bowling season, so why not pop along to one of our coaching sessions on a Tuesday morning between 10.30 and 12.30 (so long as it's not raining!)
H.P.B.C. is, first and foremost, a mixed bowling club so we offer our members the chance to bowl predominantly in mixed matches. This is good as the ladies bring a touch of glamour to the green and also keep the men in check! As well as “friendly” matches, the club competes in three leagues - Brentwood (men), Warley Woods (ladies) and two Basildon (mixed).
During the season which runs from the end of April to the end of September, we have several light-hearted events, some of which, culminate in a meal and Finals Day in September sees the conclusion of the various club competitions. There is plenty of bowling to be enjoyed during the summer at different levels and we also have a small winter program of indoor fixtures. (for more details look in (F A Q)
